Haggle Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”) takes the privacy of everyone whose personal information we handle seriously.  This Privacy Policy explains how we use, collect and store personal information.  It should be read in conjunction with the Terms of Use that apply to the use of Haggle.

What personal information do we collect?

We collect the personal information you provide to us when you use our public website and Haggle and maintain your account.  We also collect any personal information which you choose to upload to Haggle.  This includes information about you (like your account details and agreements you have signed) and information about other people you enter (like the other party to an agreement).

Any credit card details you provide in connection with your account are sent directly to our third party payment provider.  We do not permanently retain your credit card details.

We (and our third party service providers, such as Google and Hotjar) also collect technical information whenever you log onto Haggle or visit our public website.  This includes information about the way users arrive at, browse through and interact with our public website and/or Haggle (“Technical Information”).  We may collect this type of technical information through the use of “cookies” and other means.  Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive to enable our system to recognise your browser.  If you want to disable these cookies, you may do so by changing the settings on your browser.  However, if you disable cookies, you may not be able to use all the functions on our public website or within Haggle.

We use Hotjar in order to better understand our users’ needs and to optimize this service and experience. Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users experience (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behavior and their devices (in particular device's IP address (captured and stored only in anonymized form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), preferred language used to display our website). Hotjar stores this information in a pseudonymized user profile. Neither Hotjar nor we will ever use this information to identify individual users or to match it with further data on an individual user. You are not required to provide us with any personal information, although in some cases if you choose not to do so then we will be unable to administer your account or make Haggle available to you.  For example, we may need to have your account information and Technical Information in order to provide you with access to Haggle.  You can generally choose what personal information you upload to Haggle, but not providing certain information may limit how useful Haggle is for you.

Information about other people

If you wish to upload any personal information about other people to Haggle (for example, the other party you wish to negotiate and agree a contract with), you must first contact them and obtain their consent.

How do we use personal information?

We may use personal information for any of the following purposes:

  • storing, accessing and making information available through Haggle;
  • account administration and billing;
  • making advertising or marketing information available to you through Haggle or the public website;
  • identifying other categories of people who may be interested in Haggle for the purposes of making advertising and marketing information available to them and contacting them via email, instant message or SMS, social media, search engines and other methods;
  • contacting you with information or offers about products or services, including via email, instant message or SMS, social media, search engines and other methods; and
  • operating, maintaining and improving Haggle and our public website.

You are in control of the personal information that you upload to Haggle.  We hold such personal information on your behalf and as your agent.

We use the Technical Information we collect to have a better understanding of the way people use our public website and/or Haggle, to improve the way they work and to personalise them to be more relevant and useful to your particular needs.  We may also use this information to assist in making any advertising we display on the public website more personalised and applicable to your interests.

When do we disclose personal information?

Generally, we do not disclose personal information to third parties for them to use for their own purposes.  However, some of the circumstances in which we may do this are set out below.

We may disclose personal information to service providers and others working with us to make Haggle and the public website available or to improve or develop its functionality.  For example, we may use a third party supplier to host the public website and the information stored on Haggle.

All credit card information and payment details are sent directly to our third party payment provider.

We may also disclose any of the personal information we hold if we have a good-faith belief that it is necessary to:

  • carry out a proposed purchase or acquisition of our business or assets;
  • meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request;
  • enforce our Terms of Use, including investigation of potential violations;
  • detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues; and
  • protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of Haggle, our users, or the public as required or permitted by law.

We will inform you when we disclose information in respect of one of the above requests, except where doing so is prohibited by law.

Storage of your personal information

Any personal information you provide to us may be stored on the secure servers of our trusted service provider Amazon Web Services, Inc, which are located outside New Zealand. Haggle’s primary data centre is located in Australia.

We may add to, remove or change the provisions of this Privacy Policy from time to time.  All additions and changes will be notified to you by being posted on this page.  It is your responsibility to refer to these additions and changes.
